Is it Het klok of De klok?
The correct answer would be de klok. If you would refer to a small clock, you want to use the diminutive for clock:Â klokje. In general diminutives are ‘het’ woorden: het klokje
Now here are two lovely Dutch expressions involving a clock.
– Iets aan de grote klok hangenÂ
To hang something on the big clock (to tell the whole world rather than being discrete about something)
– Zoals het klokje thuis tikt, tikt het nergens
The clock doesn’t tick anywhere the same as at home (home sweet home)
