Are you looking for an entertaining way to practise your Dutch? Join us for a new edition of Direct Dutch film club on Sunday, March 26th! We will be watching ‘De Surprise‘, a lovely Dutch movie. Registration is completely free (registration is required).
This is a great opportunity to improve your Dutch conversational skills. During the event, we will watch the movie and discuss it in small groups, which usually ends in a group discussion. Our aim is to encourage everyone to speak Dutch on their own level.
The program is suitable for anyone with an elementary knowledge of Dutch (A1/A2) who would like to engage in Dutch culture and build on his or her conversation skills in a fun way.

Jacob, a multimillionaire played by Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, is devastated by the death of his mother and decides to end his life. However, his suicide attempt fails, and he seeks out a company that assists people with a deathwish. He opts for “the surprise” option, which means he will not know how or when he will be ‘assisted’.
While at the company, he meets Anne, played by Georgina Verbaan. As they spend time together, they fall in love and begin to enjoy life again. However, they soon realize that once they have signed the contract, there is no going back.

Multimiljonair Jacob (Jeroen van Koningsbrugge) is de dood van zijn vader nooit te boven gekomen. Als ook zijn moeder overlijdt probeert hij tevergeefs een einde aan zijn leven te maken. Hij vraagt de hulp in van het bedrijf Elysium. Jacob kiest voor ‘de surprise’: hij weet niet waar en wanneer hij zal sterven.
Tijdens zijn bezoek aan het bedrijf ontmoet hij Anne (Georgina Verbaan) en de twee worden verliefd op elkaar. Beiden krijgen weer zin in het leven. Er is echter wel een groot probleem, als het contract eenmaal is getekend, kun je niet meer terug.
