Spreek Nederlands Middag – Conversatie & Lezing (Conversation & Lecture)
If you’re looking to improve your Dutch conversation skills in a relaxed and friendly environment, our ‘Spreek Nederlands Middag’ is perfect for you!
Het is gezellig, goed voor je Nederlands en het is gratis – It’s gezellig (we can’t translate this word), it’s good for your Dutch and it’s free!
Spreek Nederlands Middag on Sunday January 26 is for those at level A2 or higher. You will learn new things about the Netherlands and about the Dutch language. But most importantly, you will be able to speak Dutch at your own level. Practise makes perfect!
The teacher will prepare for a short lecture. We will help you to build a vocabulary on this specific topic or theme. This could be a current event, a typically Dutch subject, or a broader theme.
Conversation about the subject will be encouraged in small groups among participants, and later with the entire group as a whole, guided by the host.

About 'Spreek Nederlands Middag'
About ‘Spreek Nederlands Middag’ at Central Library The Hague
In 2023, we hosted our final ‘Spreek Nederlands Dag’. Inspired by this event, we’ve decided to put more emphasis on conversation and interaction in all our language events and to rename them: Spreek Nederlands Middag.
Like before, there are two types of events. There are events for level A1 and higher (Dutch Conversation & Film) and events for level A2 and higher (Dutch Conversation & Lecture). You are always welcome to register for any of these events, regardless of your level (places are limited -Â registration is required).
During the conversation & film afternoon, we will watch a short film, documentary, or film clip. Since we no longer watch a full-length movie, there is more time left for conversation and interaction.
During the conversation & lecture afternoon, the lecture is shorter than before. This gives us more time for conversation. The lecture topic can range from a current event to a typically Dutch subject.
Spreek Nederlands Middag is a great opportunity to practice speaking Dutch, meet new people, and build your confidence. Best of all, participation is completely free! Due to limited space, registration is required for each event. Registration opens as soon as the event page is live, typically about a month in advance.

Leer je Nederlands? Wil je je Nederlands vaker oefenen? Doe dan mee met onze Spreek Nederlands Middagen in Centrale Bibliotheek Den Haag! Tot en met 2023 organiseerden we de jaarlijkse Spreek Nederlands Dag. Geïnspireerd door deze dag besloten we om meer nadruk te leggen op conversatie tijdens al onze evenementen. En we noemen onze evenementen voortaan Spreek Nederlands Middag.
Conversation & film, conversation & lecture
Zoals je gewend bent, is er nog steeds een onderverdeling in events voor A1 en hoger (conversation & film) en events voor A2 en hoger (conversation & workshop).
Je bent altijd welkom om je in te schrijven voor één van deze events, ongeacht je niveau.
Tijdens de conversation & film middag bekijken we een korte film, documentaire of fragment van een film. Omdat we geen hele speelfilm meer kijken, blijft er meer tijd over voor conversatie. Ook kunnen we makkelijker inhaken op de actualiteiten.
Tijdens de conversation & lecture middag is er een kortere lezing dan voorheen. Hierdoor blijft er meer tijd over voor conversatie. Het onderwerp van de lecture kan uiteenlopen van een actualiteit tot een typisch Nederlands onderwerp.
