Intensive advanced B2

Two week Intensive Advanced course – at Direct Dutch

The intensive advanced course is meant for students who are able to use Dutch (more or less) fluently in every-day life and want to master the language on a professional level. In this two week course, students independently consolidate their knowledge of Dutch grammar. In class, students develop their writing and speaking skills discussing articles from Dutch quality newspapers on a wide range of topics in oral and written assignments. Throughout the course, students are asked to actively use the Dutch language allowing them to expand their vocabulary and fluency and allowing the teacher to watch their development closely and give them individual feedback. After the advanced course, students will have become independent speakers of Dutch, who are ready to express themselves fluently and correctly on any subject in both a social and professional context.

Method

Like the Intermediate course, The Advanced course is a highly disciplined course demanding extensive self-study from the participants. Dutch remains the only language spoken throughout the course, ensuring an immersive learning experience. Participants are expected to take a proactive approach to their learning journey. This format encourages a deeper level of engagement and commitment from participants as they take on the responsibility of driving their own progress and mastering the language through dedicated self-study.

Like all our courses, the advanced course is highly interactive and focuses on communication. Students prepare for every class by covering a chapter from the book, summarizing a newspaper article and preparing a short presentation independently. This means that students are expected to spend the entire morning preparing for the afternoon classes. In class, the students will look at some of the essays in detail and concentrate on presentations and class discussion. There is a lot of room for the students’ own input, allowing the teacher to focus on each student’s individual needs and interests. Dutch is spoken throughout the course.

Culture

At Direct Dutch, we believe that it is impossible to separate a language from its cultural context. There is an important role for Dutch culture throughout our courses. The intensive advanced course exclusively works with authentic Dutch texts.

If you want to enrol in a course, and worry about the intake later, that’s fine. After we receive your enrolment form, we will inform you if a free oral test is required. Please also feel free to book an appointment for a free oral test prior to enrolling in a course.

Test NT2 Programme II level B2

In the last week of the course students will take home the reading exam (Wednesday) and the writing exam (Thursday) of the NT2 Programme II exam, to prepare as homework. The last day of the course students will take the listening exam in class. As an additional service, Direct Dutch gives students the opportunity to make an appointment with the teacher for the oral exam (free of charge).

You will receive a Direct Dutch certificate, stating you have completed the Advanced B2 (CEFR) course.
